Introducing Chano Mendez

We would love to introduce you to Chef Chano Mendez. Chano was born and raised in Mexico City. He has worked in restaurants since he was 15 in various positions including Bell Boy, Server, Bartender and Head Cook. Chano moved to America 10 years ago in search of more experience and a better life. He has worked at various restaurants including Acme Burger and The Wild Grape Bistro, but found his home here. Asked about his favorite ingredient he says, “Nopales. 6 de Mayo

Wow what a crazy and wonderful day we had in the restaurant yesterday! We hosted Jon & Lisa Barlow of Vida Tequila for our Tequila Dinner, took care of Margy Campbell and her phenomenal co-workers and generally celebrated with all of our guests. The dinner was fabulous! It started with a concoction I made called Sangre de Puebla with Prickly Pear juice and chipotle. We paired it with a new appetizer called Esquite- roasted corn with a Requeson Chipotle Aoli. We then went on to feature our Pineapple Arugula salad with the Vida Blanco, Our Bistek Barracha with the Reposado, and finished out the night with our own 5 Leches (not just 3 leches) cake with the Anejo (my favorite). I am now looking for new and exciting events to host in the coming months. Any ideas anyone?

Brunch!

Hola Amigos y Amigas!
We are busy in the restaurant tonight getting ready to serve you one of the most unique brunches in SLC! Our servers are busy grating Piloncillo, Mexican Cane Sugar that comes in the form of a cone and is used to flavor coffee, tea and just about everything else.
Here is what it looks like:

In addition to sweetening your morning, we will be filling your stomach with traditional Mexican breakfast pastries like Conchas & Orejas made fresh and savory dishes such as Molletas, house-made bread with black beans, mexican crema & queso oaxaca.
Look for 5 kinds of Omelets and the biggest Mimosa list in Utah!
Nos vemos mañana!
Stephanie
